Description

Samson’s Story from Zorah to Gaza

Samson was a judge of Israel whose life was closely connected to the tense border between the Israelites and the Philistines. He grew up in Zorah, near the foothills of Judah, in an area where Israelite and Philistine territory met. Much of Samson’s story takes place in and around this region.

The map highlights important places connected to Samson’s life, including Zorah, Eshtaol, Timnah, the Sorek Valley, Gath, and Gaza. Timnah was where Samson became involved with a Philistine woman, while the Sorek Valley was the setting of his relationship with Delilah. His final confrontation with the Philistines took place in Gaza, where he was captured and later brought to the temple of Dagon.

Seeing these locations together makes the story in Judges 14–16 easier to follow. The map shows how closely Samson’s life was tied to the Philistine borderlands and how often he moved between Israelite and Philistine territory.
