Shiloh Worship Center and Ahijah’s Prophecy Map
$10.00
Explore the town where Israel worshiped for centuries—and where a prophet predicted a kingdom would split.
Long before Jerusalem became Israel’s religious center, Shiloh was home to the tabernacle and the Ark of the Covenant. Even after the sanctuary disappeared, God continued to use this quiet hill country town as the setting for one of the Bible’s most important prophecies.
Description
Story Behind the Map
After the Israelites conquered Canaan, they set up the tabernacle at Shiloh. For generations it served as Israel’s main place of worship. Samuel grew up here under the priest Eli, and the Ark of the Covenant remained at Shiloh until it was captured by the Philistines. Although the sanctuary eventually fell into ruin, the town continued to play a role in Israel’s story.
This map focuses on Shiloh and its surrounding hill country, including nearby cities such as Bethel and Shechem. During the reign of Solomon, the prophet Ahijah lived in Shiloh. God sent him to meet Jeroboam and announce that ten tribes would be taken away from Solomon’s dynasty because the king had turned to idols. That prophecy came true after Solomon’s death, when Israel split into the northern kingdom of Israel and the southern kingdom of Judah.
The geography helps explain Shiloh’s importance. Located in the central hill country of Ephraim, it was easily reached by the tribes of Israel and stood near major travel routes through the highlands. Though Jerusalem replaced it as Israel’s worship center, Shiloh remained a powerful reminder that faithfulness to God mattered more than any sacred location.
