Jesus Feeds 4,000 Near the Sea of Galilee
Far from the towns and food markets of Galilee, a huge crowd stayed with Jesus for three days, listening, waiting, and growing hungry.
This map helps readers picture the remote eastern side of the Sea of Galilee, where Jesus showed compassion by feeding thousands with only a few loaves and fish.
Description
A Hungry Crowd in a Remote Place
A large crowd followed Jesus into a remote region near the Sea of Galilee. Matthew 15 reports that the people stayed with him for three days, bringing the sick, blind, lame, and disabled to be healed.
When Jesus saw the crowd, he did not want to send them away hungry. The disciples worried that there was nowhere nearby to buy enough bread for so many people. The setting matters because the miracle happened away from the easy resources of town life.
Jesus took seven loaves and a few small fish, gave thanks, broke the bread, and gave it to his disciples to distribute. Everyone ate and was satisfied, and the disciples collected seven baskets of leftovers.
This miracle echoes the earlier feeding of the 5,000 but takes place in a different setting and may have included many people from Gentile territory east of the lake. The geography helps readers see why the disciples asked where they could find enough bread in such a deserted place.
