This map traces Saul’s winding journey and shows how God used everyday events to accomplish an extraordinary purpose.
Description
From Lost Donkeys to Israel's First King
In 1 Samuel 9, Saul and a servant searched through the territories of Benjamin and Ephraim looking for his father's lost donkeys. After traveling from place to place without success, they considered giving up. Instead, the servant suggested visiting the prophet Samuel, who lived in Ramah.
Unknown to Saul, God had already told Samuel that the future king of Israel would arrive that very day. Samuel welcomed Saul, shared a meal with him, and the next morning secretly anointed him as Israel's first king. The missing donkeys were eventually found, but they had served a greater purpose by leading Saul exactly where God wanted him to be.
The geography brings the story to life. Saul's route winds through the tribal lands of Benjamin and Ephraim before ending at Ramah. Seeing places like Gibeah, Bethel, Shiloh, Mizpah, Rachel's Tomb, and Ramah together helps readers appreciate how an ordinary journey became the beginning of Israel's monarchy and one of the Bible's most remarkable examples of God's quiet guidance.
