Description

Paul Defends Gentile Believers

This map traces the journey of Paul and Barnabas from Antioch to Jerusalem (Acts 15), a trip that helped settle one of the earliest and most important debates in the church: Do non-Jews have to follow Jewish law to follow Jesus?

The route covers about 370 miles (600 km), either by land through Phoenicia and Samaria or partly by sea along the Mediterranean coast. Travel could take about a week by ship with favorable winds or up to three weeks on foot.

Along the way, Paul and Barnabas encourage believers and share how Gentiles are coming to faith. Their arrival in Jerusalem leads to a decision that opens the door for the message of Jesus to spread far beyond Israel.
