Map Description

This map traces the events of 2 Kings 6, when King Ben-Hadad of Aram (Syria) repeatedly planned surprise attacks against Israel. Each time, the prophet Elisha warned Israel's king, allowing the army to avoid danger. Frustrated, the Syrian king sent soldiers to capture Elisha, believing he was the source of the leaks.

God protected his prophet by revealing an unseen army of heavenly horses and chariots surrounding Elisha. After the Syrians were struck with blindness, Elisha led them to Samaria, the capital of Israel. Instead of executing the prisoners, Israel's king fed them and sent them home in peace. The surprising act of mercy temporarily ended the Syrian raids.

The geography highlights the ongoing struggle between Israel and Aram. Damascus served as the powerful Syrian capital, while Samaria stood at the heart of Israel's hill country. The route between the two cities became the setting for one of the Bible's most memorable demonstrations of God's protection, power, and mercy.
